That was the Chorbiennale 2009
Straightaway more than 10.000 visitors at the first International Chorbiennale
in Aachen

The International Festival for Choral Music
Through the participation of international choruses like Oreya from the Ukraine and Noorus from Estonia, as well as the best professional German choruses such as the WDR Radio Chorus of Cologne, the special quality of the festival is guaranteed.
The backbone of the Chorbiennale is the presentation of four top choruses from Aachen – each winners of national and international choral competitions – within the context of first class international choruses.
The sinfonieorchester Aachen under Generalmusikdirektor Marcus Bosch and renowned soloists make the programme a rich choral and orchestral sound experience.
Choral concerts that feature combined performances of two choruses provide exciting possibilities for comparison.
A select offering of concerts, double-length concerts with extended intervals and a diversely structured programme will provide a lively week-long exchange between audiences and artists.
Lunch concerts at noon in downtown Aachen require a new sort of concertising. The ‘Long Choral Night’ binds the wide-ranging Aachen choral life together. Childrens’, Youths’, Mens’ and Womens’ choruses, Oratorio choruses, Jazz and
a cappella formations demonstrate the lively and colourful Aachen choral scene.
Through live radio broadcasts, open rehearsals, the ‘Long Choral Night’ and participation in Sunday religious services in the Euregio region, the Chorbiennale aims to reach a large public beyond the classical concert-going audience.
Ever-changing thematic accents and world premieres guarantee the Chorbiennale a prominent profile.
